Cultural Studies
We all inhabit the same earth. The purpose of our geography lessons is to help the child to become familiar with our earth and to develop an understanding of where they are in relation to everyone else. Our youngest children will enjoy puzzle maps of each continent while the kindergarten children will make their own paper duplicates of each continent.
Along with map skills there are many discussions about life in each of the continents. For each continent, we discuss the questions:
- Who lives there?
- What animals live there?
- What special places, customs and languages are found there?
Every other week, students are given beginning Spanish language lessons. Students learn colors, numbers, and how to answer introductory questions in Spanish. The children also sing Spanish songs and enjoy listening to familiar books in both English and Spanish.
