Over the course of the 3 year curriculum, the children are introduced to different artists and learn to recognize the styles of some of the most well known artists and can even name their most famous works. Artists studied include: Pablo Picasso, Vincent Van Gogh, Claude Monet, Edward Hopper, and Georgia O’Keefe.

Musicians, composers and musical groups are also studied in class. The children hear music from Tchaikovsky and Mozart as well influential musicians like Duke Ellington and The Beatles. In addition, a music specialist visits our school to sing with the children and during the class the students are also exposed to different rhythms and styles of dance.

As part of the wide ranging language curriculum the children are able to look at books from well known authors, poets and illustrators including Barbara Cooney, Dr. Suess, Jan Brett, Tomie DePaola, Kevin Henkes, and Robert McCloskey and also have stories read to them at group time.
