Founded in 1960 and located in New York City, the American Montessori Society is a non-profit corporation dedicated to promoting Montessori Education. AMS oversees many Montessori Teacher Education programs. It is responsible for setting standards for certification and for continually evaluating the effectiveness of these programs. This site offers listing of affiliated schools, job postings, and information about AMS affiliated teacher education programs.
The Montessori Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to the advancement of Montessori education throughout the world and promotes itself as a place to go with all your Montessori questions. They publish an excellent Montessori magazine, Tomorrow's Child. Their Montessori Leadership Institute holds seminars and courses on a wide range of Montessori topics. The offer a very comprehensive list of Montessori and Montessori related books and publications for sale. They also provide a well-respected school consultation service.
